This Handkerchiefs features our Nā Haumana print on Black fabric with Purple and Khaki ink.
The 2013 graduating students of Ke Ana La'ahana Public Charter School believed that their experiences with hau were a good metaphor of their character as a class. The manner in which it grows at Honohononui exemplifies their personalities. Meeting with them and encouraging them to define their inspirations resulted in several pencil drawings from the students. It is from these drawings that I was motivated to cut the new artwork.
We have always loved Marimekko fabrics. Their simple and bold renderings uplifts spirit and showcase a happy and proud view on life. We offer this fabric design in honor of their style and heritage. This is Brandy’s take on the tangled branches and distinct blossoms of the hau.
