This Kēwai Dress features our Hua ʻĀpane design on Brick fabric with Ice Peach and Peach ink.
ʻŌhiʻaʻai (mountain apple) is the ʻōhiʻa that bears fruit. ʻŌhiʻa ʻāpane are the ʻōhiʻa ʻai with red blossoms, different from the ones with white. The fruit comes in different colors too, from pale pink to streaked reds. Hua ʻāpane refers to the beautiful dark red mountain apple.
From a single branch with one fruit, Brandy has created a lei out of woven branches, mirrored yet reversed, entangled but separate. Ā hua ā pane, is traditionally said after a riddle is told. A pun on the name when spoken, Huaʻāpane is our visual riddle.
A wind of the Hilo district, the Kēwai carries the light rain showers upland. Cool and refreshing, the winds often appear mid-afternoon, moving along the shoreline before turning inland.
Easy to wear, our sheath dress is cut on a bias, giving you a simple choice on the way out of the house. The knee length keeps you cool and it’s the linen/rayon fabric that drapes well. Slip it on - over head - and enjoy the comfort.
