Kaʻanoʻi Paniau Dress - Azalea

This Paniau Dress features our Kaʻanoʻi design on Azalea fabric with Peony ink.

A unique character of life here on an island are the distinct smells and fragrances.  One of my favorites is the aroma of limu along the shorelines.  Līpoa has a strong flavor and because it washes up on the sand and dries out in the sun, the smell is more noticeable.  Aunty Edith penned the song “Uluwehi O Ke Kai”, inspired by the drive up the coast from Kāneʻohe to Lāʻie.  The fragrant līpoa is prevalent along the shore making it so memorable!

On the lee side of our island, Paniau basks in the heat of South Kohala. Its shores front emerald waters, white sand, and views across the ʻAlenuihāhā Chanel. We chose this name for this dress to commemorate that special period in our lives when we lived for the sunshine.“Pani” is Hawaiian, a term that can mean to close. When we created the pattern for this dress, we were “closing” the sleeveless by giving it sleeves. Not only were we honoring one of our favorite sites on our island, but we gave birth to an iconic style with sleeves.A simple shirt-dress, a button-up front, and a yoke and collar, this easy wear 100% cotton has been a favorite for a couple of decades. We bring it back, celebrating its simplicity and the go-anywhere-attitude.

100% Kona Cotton. model is 5'7" wearing S.
