Towering trees of this iconic leaf line streets in many places but not in Hawaiʻi. I love this tree and get so excited when its leaves turn yellow and turn the streets into a yellow carpet of leaves! It is a temperate-climate tree that has not been successful in growing in the islands. Being a native from China, this tree is amazing as it was growing during the Jurassic period some 150 million years ago!
Around Chinese New Year, my Aunty Alice would make a huge pot of jai, filled with gingko. I would search them out in this holiday special, often called Chinese Monk’s food. Fresh roasted nuts is a favorite!
An extract from the leaves, gingko biloba, is popular promoting good blood circulation in the brain, thus slowing the onset of dementia. This name, Haliʻaaloha, refers to cherished memories. Always wanting to keep this special experiences close to our hearts, I felt that eating gingko will help keep these memories always fresh!
Inspired by the ivy-league shirts of the early 1900s, the fabric designs are pure Hawai‘i, and the look is pleasingly fresh. The Pullover features a half placket and is designed slightly wider to allow over-the-head dressing with ease. Coconut buttons are featured on the stand-up, button-down collar and on the front placket. Tuck it in or leave it out over the trousers for a more casual look. Either way, it's the perfect touch of crisp aloha!
Model is 5ʻ5" and is wearing a size small.
Hang to dry.
Iron on reverse.
