Lauakāne Pullover Aloha Shirt -Dill

This Pullover Aloha Shirt features our Lauakane print on Dill fabric with Espresso ink.

The 'awa is kinolau of Kane, hence the name.  Significant is the term "lau" which suggests many, multiples, numerous.  The word often means abundant, and wealth.  The original design was done in the early 1990s and as we revisit it at this time, I sat with Daniel Hoskins to share my thoughts during the fabric layout process.  As he moved the mouse and I pointed and spoke, this design became our collaboration. The rows of leaves appear almost naturally in the garden.  It is this personal insight that we have attempted to share with the viewer.

Inspired by the ivy-league shirts of the early 1900s, the fabric designs are pure Hawai‘i, and the look is pleasingly fresh. The Buttondown is an open front, tapered shirt with a full length placket, while The Pullover features a half placket and is designed slightly wider to allow over-the-head dressing with ease. Coconut buttons are featured on the stand-up, button-down collar and on the front placket. Tuck it in or leave it out over the trousers for a more casual look. Either way, it's the perfect touch of crisp aloha!
