This Button Up Aloha Shirt features our E Ola Koa print on Maize fabric with Gecko ink.
"I ka hoʻokewai ka lau koa, ola ka mole." When the koa leaf drips, the tap root lives.
This ʻōlelo noʻeau was gifted to us by Aunty Pua Kanahele at the request of Kūhaʻo. He was inspired by her telling of the self-sustainability of the koa tree and created this combination of rain and the koa branches. The name speaks of "growing ones roots strong and firm; only then will you be able to care for all neighbors." The shape of the koa leaf helps to pull moisture from the air and direct it to fall back under its canopy. The understory beneath a koa tree is known to be one of shelter, allowing all to be safe and healthy.
Inspired by the ivy-league shirts of the early 1900s, the fabric designs are pure Hawai‘i, and the look is pleasingly fresh. The Button Up is an open front, tapered shirt with a full length placket. Coconut buttons are featured on the stand-up, button-down collar and on the front placket. Tuck it in or leave it out over the trousers for a more casual look. Either way, it's the perfect touch of crisp aloha!
Model is wearing a size Medium shirt.
