This Buttonup Aloha Shirt features our Hoʻohenohiʻileihaliʻaaloha print on Butter fabric with Espresso and Otter ink.
The Ahaʻāina Piha Makahiki, or the first birthday celebration, is an important milestone in the life of a child. Family and friends are invited to rejoice the new child surviving the first year of life’s challenges.
Hoʻohenohiʻileihaliʻaaloha was our celebratory birthday gift for the firstborn child of Paul and Ashley Kema. The ʻohe kāpala medium was chosen to illustrate the child’s name, Hiʻileihaliʻaaloha.
The lei of pua niu was selected as the child’s father always made papale niu, coconut frond hats.
The center of the lei represents the piko, the umbilical cord. This symbolizes both genealogy and unity within the ʻohana. Ola ke keiki ʻo Hiʻileihaliʻaaloha!
Inspired by the ivy-league shirts of the early 1900s, the fabric designs are pure Hawai‘i, and the look is pleasingly fresh. The Button Up is an open front, tapered shirt with a full length placket. Coconut buttons are featured on the stand-up, button-down collar and on the front placket. Tuck it in or leave it out over the trousers for a more casual look. Either way, it's the perfect touch of crisp aloha!
