The pala'a fern is very lacy, delicate, and rare. Choosing very difficult places to grow, the light green fronds makes a wonderful lei. Hula patrons offer this fern on the kuahu for it is kinolau of Laka, the diety of hula.This design was done for Noe'ulakapalai, the first grandniece of Sig Zane. The name invokes "the fern in the pink hued mist."
