Pōhakulani Hua Dress - Rich Red

Size Guide

This Hua Dress features our Pōhakulani design on Rich Red fabric with White and Coral ink.

“Bliss” kind of expresses how I feel while gathering liko. In the quiet morning, the forest is alive and refreshed after a night of mist and rain. Gazing over the tops of young ʻōhiʻa trees, I search for the colorful orange, burgundy, and red shoots. These are my favorites to make lei. I also look for liko that “stretch out in the rain”. Usually plentiful after a long period of rain, the foot-long young growth isnʻt used for lei. Instead, these cherished liko are placed in a glass vase for our dinner table or maybe on the desk at work. These are the extra-special liko!

This liko was cut especially for Haku Hoʻopai. She has danced with Nālani for the past thirty years, and also worked at Sig Zane Designs. I love her as one of my daughters! This design was my gift to her upon her marriage!

This layout was created and named, for part of Hakuʻs name, by Kūhaʻo.

Named after the thirteenth day of the moon phase, the Hua Dress is a celebration of the fruits of our labor! A combination of many favorite styles, the sleeve, collar, length and trapeze is all about comfort. Youthful, cool and poise are offered in this all-occasion wearable. A stand-up collar, cap sleeves and an at-the-knee length, the style is all about comfort. Button-front closure and relaxing ease permits perfect strides!
