If not for the timely intervention of the smart contract audit engineers at American forensic firm TheHackersPro, I would have lost over 650 BTC to a fake airdrop posed as an Arbitrum-related site. After sharing transaction evidence with their team and Vladimir Kolarov, we identified the scam using Arbitrum’s logos and graphics. This scam looks convincing, especially given the legitimate airdrops of ARB tokens by the Arbitrum Foundation. It’s important to emphasize that this scam is not associated with the Arbitrum Orbit platform, Arbitrum Foundation, or any Arbitrum services. Promoted on the 2024arb[.]xyz page, it might also appear on other sites. Users are prompted to connect their digital wallets, risking exposure to a cryptocurrency-draining script that transfers funds to the scammers’ wallets. These transactions can be unclear and often go unnoticed—I discovered mine almost 10 hours later. Thankfully, I recovered 402 BTC into my Exodus wallet and am awaiting the Ethereum gas fee to retrieve the rest into my Coinbase. If your funds are missing without explanation, this might be what happened to you.
