From the quiet back country of Hāna to the hustle and bustle of Chinatown in Honolulu, Ala Kukui hosted a one of a kind “Hāna Kū on Smith” pop up event
at Kaiao Space on October 18th, 2024.
The goal was to transport people back to the relaxing retreat deck at Ala Kukui with the aroma of fried āholehole, smoked pork, pa’i’ai and a cool Paloma to
wash it all down while vibing to Rexieʻs roots music.
The event offered people a chance to learn about Ala Kukuiʻs Programs and 2025 Retreat offerings, get their hands on exclusive Hāna Kū x SZ Designs merch, and peek a special premiere of our latest project, ‘Ai Kū: the Kitchen, a video pod-cast that gathers Hāna Kū practitioners, chefs and industry professionals in the kitchen to talk shop
and dive a little deeper on topics relevant to todayʻs kanaka.
The term Hāna Kū refers to the back country kua’āina who continues to perpetuate generational place-based intelligence from mauka to makai. For the past 9 years, this program has paired Hānaʻs holoholo practitioners with some Hawaiiʻs most innovative chefs and the result has been, magic.

SHIPPING & STORE PICKUP We offer domestic and international shipping options for online orders through USPS, FedEx, and DHL International. Please allow at least 2 - 3 business days for your order to be packed and processed for shipping. The shipping estimates listed at the time of the order are based on when the parcel leaves our premises, not when the order is placed. Please contact your chosen carrier with your tracking information to inquire about the estimated date of arrival and location of your package. Orders are shipped out Monday-Friday. Orders that come in on Friday after 10am HST will not be processed until the following Monday, even if the request is for overnight shipping. If you live on Hawaiʻi island and would like to pick up your order at our Downtown Hilo Flagship store, please select the "Local Pickup" option. Please allow 24 hours for us to get your order ready.
