This Pua Ka Hīnano dress features our Ka ʻIwaʻiwa a Kuʻu Popo print on Candy Pink Gingham material with Sable ink.
Ka ʻIwaʻiwa a Kuʻu Popo
When I was young, we lived with Popo Edith on Skyline Drive in Honolulu. She had a greenhouse filled with orchids and ferns. Her favorites were the purple honohono and the maidenhair ferns. Although our family later moved to Kāneʻohe, each visit to Popo was not complete if I didn't run down the hill to see her greenhouse. The clay pots were filled with the maidenhair ferns, lovingly placed in rows. These ferns were her pride and joy. This design honors Popo Edith and her contributions to my life.
Pua Ka Hīnano
A favorite place to gather for surf and fishing, this park used to be the home site of the Malo ʻohana. Beautiful pūhala trees frame Honokea fish pond! When in bloom, the air is fragrant with the subtle, velvet sweetness. Pua ka hīnano is said when taking in this scent!
We designed this dress for the summer days in Hilo, keeping our wahine cool. All cotton, knee length, and easy to wear. The heat’s on: get comfortable!
