Kahanulauaʻe
These hand drawn leaves of lauaʻe were the gift of life at the Piha Makahiki for Kahanulauaʻeomakana Akiona. Her name means “The Fragrant Lauaʻe of Makana” made famous in mele for the place at Hāʻena, Kauaʻi.
If one compared the lauaʻe from various sites to the lauaʻe at Makana, you will note the strong difference. There at Makana, fragrant indeed, is the lauaʻe!
HUAKAʻI
We call our new fabrication Huakaʻi. It simply translates to “journey.” We gain most in experiences which help build our perspectives and strengthen our foundation. Much like in the discovery of our newest fabrication, we are further enlightened with the offering of 100% cotton produced in Japan!
The climate in paradise often demands alternates in fabrics to enjoy daily routines. The process in creating Huakaʻi allows us another option in our wearables. It is softer than our regular cotton broadcloth and its hand shows wrinkles from the compression in the process. It is the perfect casual shirt! Touch up with an iron after wash only if you wish.

Exchange of an item can be processed at any time up to a year after the initial purchase. Inventory moves quickly. Gift certificates issued from our brick and mortar locations can also be transferred but only on weekdays when staff is available to do the transaction via the web. SHIPPING & STORE PICKUP We offer domestic and international shipping options for online orders through USPS, FedEx, and DHL International. Please allow at least 2 - 3 business days for your order to be packed and processed for shipping. The shipping estimates listed at the time of the order are based on when the parcel leaves our premises, not when the order is placed. Please contact your chosen carrier with your tracking information to inquire about the estimated date of arrival and location of your package. Orders are shipped out Monday-Friday. Orders that come in on Friday after 10am HST will not be processed until the following Monday, even if the request is for overnight shipping. If you live on Hawaiʻi island and would like to pick up your order at our Downtown Hilo Flagship store, please select the "Local Pickup" option. Please allow 24 hours for us to get your order ready.
