This Button Up aloha shirt features our Puʻu Lehua print on Steel Stipe material with Black ink.
Puʻu Lehua
The puʻu (hill) shape of this print conveys a mountain that is young, one that has not completed its growth cycle. It is believed that by instilling elements of history, culture and tradition into our portrayal of imagery, we shall enlighten and educate subliminally and literally. ʻŌhiʻa lehua is one of the first plants to sprout from new lava. Symbolic of Pele and Hiʻiaka, the kinolau form is a foundation to many chants and hula, especially for Hawaiʻi island. This design, originally created as a logo for the Moku O Keawe International Festival, is now shared with you in fabric form. All fabric printed for garments will benefit the non-profit organization with their mission to share the culture through the educational aspects of hula and the related arts.
Inspired by the ivy-league shirts of the early 1900s, the fabric designs are pure Hawai‘i, and the look is pleasingly fresh. The Button Up is an open front, tapered shirt with a full length placket. Coconut buttons are featured on the stand-up, button-down collar and on the front placket. Tuck it in or leave it out over the trousers for a more casual look. Either way, it's the perfect touch of crisp aloha!
