This Pua Ka Hīnano dress features our Pua A Tane print on Khaki Seersucker material with Avocado and Dill ink.
Pua A Tane
While in Pāpeʻete a few years back, we visited friends who were master wood carvers. The images were representations of their gods. One of the pieces was carved from a sacred tree. Showing us the tree, we were surprised that it looked like our puakenikeni, except the blossoms were twice as big. The name of this print, Pua Ā Tāne, translates to the Flower of Tāne (Kāne). We honor the Tahitians and their master wood carvers.
Pua Ka Hīnano
A favorite place to gather for surf and fishing, this park used to be the home site of the Malo ʻohana. Beautiful pūhala trees frame Honokea fish pond! When in bloom, the air is fragrant with the subtle, velvet sweetness. Pua ka hīnano is said when taking in this scent!
We designed this dress for the summer days in Hilo, keeping our wahine cool. All cotton, knee length, and easy to wear. The heat’s on: get comfortable!
