This Manamana dress features our Kalikohumuʻula print on Sweet Pea Gingham material with Celadon.

We often we make the trek up to Saddle Road to pick the finest for our lei. The weather is crisp and it brings forth the special budding of the ʻōhiʻa.  It's these incredibly compact and colorful liko that we select to make our lei.  In talking with Kainani about her wedding dress and what to wear during the reception, she mentioned liko as a possibility for a design concept. It struck me there, especially as she lives here on the island of Hawaiʻi, that this should be the image for she is embarking on a new path as the wife of Halealoha Ayau. I envisioned this design to be very feminine without too many restrictions.  I wanted it to be light and free as Kainani is in character and person. To represent her best, this design should be petite and distinct, not of uniform size but flowing and connected, sweet and innocent.

Straight from the archives, this sleeveless dress continues to be the quintessential attire for  island jaunts!  Easy wear with the button-up front placket to make it look dressy enough, knee length for keeping cool, and the stand-collar appears like the wahine version of the aloha shirt.  Work or play - mākaukau!
