WHITE GINGER BLOSSOMS

Along many a favorite drive during the summer months, the air is scented with ginger blossoms. We associate this delicate bloom with outings to moist, lush places like Volcano, and with the lovingly tended yards of old plantation homes that evoke fond memories of Hilo’s old days. While driving through Mountain View to the Volcano on the Big Island, or winding one’s way to Hāna, the blossoms permeate the air. The white blossoms are cherished in beautiful lei, special for any occasion, and they retain their fragrance even when dried.
