Through a deep connection to ʻāina, ʻohana, and to one another, the ‘aʻali’i of Ka'ū are an inspiration in the face of adversity. In these difficult weeks following Hurricane Lala, we are reminded again of the strength of Ka'ū. This collection was already in the works and all proceeds from this release and others in the coming weeks will continue our efforts toward the ʻohana impacted.
Kaʻū Moku Kamaʻehu- The Steadfast District
The ʻōhai grows along the coasts, enjoying the ocean mist. There at Ka Lae, South Point, the plant crawls on the earth and keeps cool in the grass. The name Ka Laeʻula, “The Red Point,” conveys the flowers that carpet the area, steadfast in the famous gales of Kaʻū. This capsule is dedicated to the unflinching nature of Kaʻū’s natives. Aloha nō ʻo Kaʻū!
