This pullover aloha shirt features our Kalohāluʻa print on Breakers print on Sea Mist Ink.
Kalohāluʻa
Patterns incised on kapa beaters are called hāluʻa and further described as koʻeau hāluʻa, hāluʻa niho manō, hāluʻa makaʻupena. These terms give hint to the intent of the design.
The rows of kalo on this fabric design is a study of the loʻi and the method of planting huli. As the plants mature, this is a view of that healthy growth.
In making kapa, the wooden beaters are created for a variety of functions. The halu'a beaters not only spread the bark thinner, but the design emboss and lock the layers together.
The name of the design translates to Kalo Patterns.
Inspired by the ivy-league shirts of the early 1900s, the fabric designs are pure Hawai‘i, and the look is pleasingly fresh. The Pullover features a half placket and is designed slightly wider to allow over-the-head dressing with ease. Coconut buttons are featured on the stand-up, button-down collar and on the front placket. Tuck it in or leave it out over the trousers for a more casual look. Either way, it's the perfect touch of crisp aloha!
