This Hua Dress features our Kanakaʻole print on Suede material with Dusty Peach ink. 

Kanakaʻole

A graphic play on the original Makaʻupena design. We went with linear outlines to achieve a different look and feel but keep the same integrity to storyline and content.

The original woodblock was carved by my grandpa Luka Kanaka’ole and used on the early costumes of Halau O Kekuhi. A master of his craft, we honor the Kanaka’ole legacy with the continuation of our Makaʻupena art. -Kūhaʻo

Hua Dress

As the thirteenth day of the moon phase, Hua is just before the full moon phases.  Shaped like an egg, this is a good time to plant fruiting trees.  In business, this is great day to start a company or collaborate!

Honoring this moon phase, we have named this dress Hua.  The silhouette is A-shaped, tea length, stand-up collar, and easy button-up front.  Comfort for everyday wear!
