This button up aloha shirt features our Kaunaʻoa Pehu print on Espresso material with Champagne and Raffia ink.
Kaunaʻoa Pehu
The Dodder parasitic vine, with slender brown, yellow, or green stems and branches, is found inland, hence one of its names is kaunaʻoa uka. Sometimes called kaunaʻoa mālolo, it was often used to cover the mālolo (flying fish) so they would not jump out of the canoe. Kaunaʻoa pehu is another name as it is thicker and coarser than the native orange Dodder.
Lei of the orange kaunaʻoa is often worn to represent Lānaʻi. We make lei of the kaunaʻoa pehu as it is plentiful in Panaʻewa. Braided vines make a unique lei!
Inspired by the ivy-league shirts of the early 1900s, the fabric designs are pure Hawai‘i, and the look is pleasingly fresh. The Button Up is an open front, tapered shirt with a full length placket. Coconut buttons are featured on the stand-up, button-down collar and on the front placket. Tuck it in or leave it out over the trousers for a more casual look. Either way, it's the perfect touch of crisp aloha!
