This Hua Dress features our Kuhaimoana print on Espresso material with Gold ink.
Kuhaimoana
Regarded as the largest and most benevolent of ʻaumakua sharks, Kūhaʻimoana is the
ancestral guardian of the ocean waters surrounding Kauaʻi, Niʻihau, and Kaʻula.
Drawn out by Nālani Kanakaʻole, this ʻohe kāpala was hand-cut by Kehau Kaula.
Kaula then printed a kīhei with the stamps, creating the fabric layout.
This is one of the designs created for Eia Mai Eiwa, the exhibit at Bishop Museum,
celebrating hula and its teachings for the Zane-Kanakaʻole ʻohana.
Hua Dress
As the thirteenth day of the moon phase, Hua is just before the full moon phases. Shaped like an egg, this is a good time to plant fruiting trees. In business, this is great day to start a company or collaborate!
Honoring this moon phase, we have named this dress Hua. The silhouette is A-shaped, tea length, stand-up collar, and easy button-up front. Comfort for everyday wear!
