Mōhalapua
"Blossoming of youth," is the translation of this term designated for the design of ʻūlei. The reference here is to honor one of Keana Okuda's offerings as a fabric layout designer. This three-color "second layout" of this design exudes a delicate nature, an oriental sense in artistic placement, and a zeal to create intrinsic beauty. The name of this design, if taken literally, means the "flower blooms". With Hawaiian poetry, the reference to pua is often with affectionate regard to a person.
As the thirteenth day of the moon phase, Hua is just before the full moon phases. Shaped like an egg, this is a good time to plant fruiting trees. In business, this is great day to start a company or collaborate!
Honoring this moon phase, we have named this dress Hua. The silhouette is A-shaped, tea length, stand-up collar, and easy button-up front. Comfort for everyday wear!
