Ka Ia Ka Ale
From the great migration chants, these ʻoha kāpala illustrate oceanic movement.
Stingrays migrate in massive numbers, inspiring Nālani Kanakaʻole to draw.
Each bamboo stamp further expresses the many patterns in which the stingrays
travel and migrate.
Drawn out by Nālani Kanakaʻole, the ʻohe kāpala was hand-cut by Kehau Kaula.
Kaula then printed a kīhei with the stamps, creating the fabric layout.
This is one of the designs created for Eia Mai Eiwa, the exhibit at Bishop Museum,
celebrating hula and its teachings for the Zane-Kanakaʻole ʻohana.
Hua Dress
As the thirteenth day of the moon phase, Hua is just before the full moon phases. Shaped like an egg, this is a good time to plant fruiting trees. In business, this is great day to start a company or collaborate!
Honoring this moon phase, we have named this dress Hua. The silhouette is A-shaped, tea length, stand-up collar, and easy button-up front. Comfort for everyday wear!
