Niu Haku

Planting a coconut tree for a newborn is a most significant ritual.  Because of its long life, coconut palms are able to feed that child for the rest of their life.  Famous are the beckoning coconut trees at Kaipalaoa at Hilo One.  

The niu is one of the more valuable trees in Hawaiʻi.  Oftentimes, a tree is planted in honor of the birth of a child, providing food for life.  Thatched leaves provide shade and pāpale.

 Niu Haku is the term used to describe the sprouting coconut tree.

Inspired by the ivy-league shirts of the early 1900s, the fabric designs are pure Hawai‘i, and the look is pleasingly fresh. The Button Up is an open front, tapered shirt with a full length placket.
